Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor is seeking a Buyer to work in Co Cork.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Procuring goods, plant and equipment.
  • Negotiating prices with suppliers, tracking all price changes and updates in advance, uploading new prices onto the relevant systems.
  • Ensure proper flow of buying documentation and information.
  • Follow up on price requisitions as requested.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the estimating and operation teams to clarify required materials and equipment.
  • Place orders with assigned suppliers at regular intervals and ensure the prompt delivery of these orders.
  • Perform other duties as requested in support of the overall operation of the department.


  • 1 to 4 years’ experience in a Buying or Procurement role.  
  • Experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
